The Dewalt DW088K Self-Leveling Cross Line Laser is an excellent choice for remodeling and construction projects. Its primary feature is the self-leveling ability to provide horizontal or vertical lines. Included in the box are the DW088K leveler itself, 3 AA batteries, an acoustic ceiling mount, a kit box, and operating instructions. This device is designed to project strong and bright horizontal and vertical lines for leveling and layout purposes.
DEWALT DW088K Features:
DW088K maintains full visibility at all times and extends its range. The use of this device eliminates the use for an old-fashioned chalk line and calculations, producing an extremely accurate line. It features a full-time pulse mode that maintains the brightness of the line while extending the range of the laser to 165 feet with DW0892 line laser detector (sold separately). This model features an indoor visibility range of up to 100 feet, and though it is not intended for outdoor use, it offers an outdoor visibility range of up to 50 feet. The DW088K features a sturdy design that proves to be IP54 debris/water resistant. It features a built-in magnetic pivoting base that assists in easy mounting on metal surfaces. Three individual buttons featured on the side control panel control the three separate beams. This model comes with a hard-sided box for transport and batteries (at Amazon).
The DW088K is ideal for professionals who are tackling the job of installing a floor and wall tile, or even mapping a wall layout. It can be used in both residential and commercial jobs, though they are not ideal for very large projects. Unlike the DW087K, which some users have a hard time distinguishing from this model, the DW088K features a full-time pulse mode. This mode allows for a specialized projection and maintaining of the laser line and allows use with a detector. This is helpful when attempting to appropriately take measure for leveling out a floor for floor to wall tiling or any installations of the sort. This model is also useful in the laying of stud and track work.
This model is truly state-of-the-art. The magnetic pivoting base allows for easy, solitary placement while working. It also allows easy pivoting and angling in order to get the correct angle degree with the line. The cross line laser allows more accuracy and more area able to be covered. It’s features stronger brightness than the DW078K, which ultimately means more accuracy.
The DW088K is not intended for large commercial jobs. The accuracy and precision is geared more towards smaller-sized professional jobs. For anything larger than a simple floor or ceiling job, the DW089K should be considered. While this model certainly offers more and stands to be much more accurate than the DW087K, it is not intended for major, large scale commercial jobs. It does not offer as much accuracy as the DW089K, which offers a laser that is about two times brighter, allowing for better visibility and better accuracy.
Choosing the model that will work best for you and your needs depends on just that: you and your needs. The things that you hold at priority and the things you are willing to compromise will help determine if the DW088K is the right laser level for the job that you intend to do.
The Dewalt DW088K features a three-year limited warranty, and a full year of free service. As previously recommended, the consideration of your needs and wants for the specific job or jobs that you intend to complete with your Dewalt product should be thoroughly processed before deciding on the model that you intend to use.
